Matei Ioachimescu  



Matei started to play piano at the age of 5 in a musical family in Bucharest, Romania. He was gifted and switched to study flute after 10 years. He felt in love with flute when he heard the first sound it made.

He studied at the Bucharest Music School with Prof. Vasile Gantolea before he moved to Vienna and studied with Prof. Barbara Gisler-Haase. He then obtained "Master of Music" Diploma at the University of Music and Performing Arts. Meanwhile he attended flute masterclasses with Pierre-Yves Artaud, Heidi Peter Indermühle, Renate Armin-Greiss, Wolfgang Schulz, Ion Bogdan Stefanescu.


Since he started his profession as a soloist, he performed in the  concerts with orchestras, including the Romanian Radio Orchestra, the "George Enescu" Phiharmonic Orchestra, Zlin Philharmonic, Oradea Philarmonic, Bacau Philharmonic and others.

Besides his chamber music devotion, he passionately devote to Classical and Contemporary Music as well.

In 2003 - 2010, he performed with the "George Enescu" Philharmonic Orchestra Bucharest.
In 2014, he released his own CD, called "Lumiere", together with pianist Catalina Butcaru which was highly recommended by most of  the newspaper.


It is his mission to share his musical experiences with younger musicians, helping them to improve their skills and become a better musician.

He teaches masterclasses in Romania and Austria. He also give private lesson to young flutists.

He is the "Ambassador of Integration", a title awarded by the Austrian Ministry for his social engagements and devotion. He also manage several ensembles and orchestras as a director of ViennART Agency.
